ITINERARY: We depart from your hotel in Puerto Varas/Puerto Montt and travel to the skirts of Volcano Osorno, to the entrance of Vicente Perez Rosales National Park and the Laguna Verde area. This National Park is part of the Temperate Rainforests of the Austral Andes, declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 2007.
We visit the Burbuja, an area where a ski resort is located and where we may see the glacial run-off from the volcano’s slopes and glaciers, together with other points of interest.  Here we will hike to viewpoint where you will see the Tronador volcano (3,495 MASL/11,400 Ft) and the great Andes Mountain range sorrounding us!
We then proceed to the famous Petrohué Waterfalls or Los Saltos. The falls were created first by the enormous lava flows of Osorno Volcano which cut off the flow of water between Todos Los Santos Lago (All Saints Lake) and Llanquihue Lake and formed a new outflow from Todos Los Santos Lago, now known as the Petrohué River. The lava is continually being sculpted into unusual forms by the power of the river. The flora and fauna of the temperate rain forest abound in this area.
We take short hikes to the marked nature trails of Los Enamorados and Carilemu where we learn about the different types of rocks, vegetation, and birds that live in this evergreen forest. We complete our excursion by visiting the Todos Los Santos Lago, also known as Emerald Lake, so named for the deep emerald color of its waters. You will want to take photos from the beach while enjoying a walk around to the black sand beach. Return to the hotel.
This is a special expedition for the entire family and for those who love the outdoors and wish to see and photograph the flora and fauna of this volcanic area.
