SUMMARY: Nowhere on Earth is better for stargazing than Chile’s Atacama Desert, where super-observatories have opened up to a wave of astro-tourists seeking unpolluted skies. Please note: The tour does not operate on full-moon nights.
DURATION: 2 – 3 hrs.
MIN. / MAX. PEOPLE: 2 – 10 people. Large groups can be accommodated with advance arrangements.
SEASON: Year round, weather permitting. Note: The best nights are 4 days before full moon and 3 days after full moon.
ITINERARY: Pick up from your San Pedro hotel or arranged location. Departing from San Pedro de Atacama, we visit the area of the observatory and learn from an astronomer-guide how to read the sky. Then hop from telescope to telescope and stare in wonder at stars, clouds of dust and gas, and planets otherwise invisible to the naked eye. Say hello to Saturn’s rings, moon craters, star clusters, galaxies, and other wonders of the universe. You’ll leave wanting to become an astronomer yourself!
