SUMMARY
: Hike Paso Desolacion (Desolation Pass) between the Osorno and Cerro La Picada volcanoes. Soak in the amazing vistas of Calbuco, Puntiagudo, Tronador, Yates volcanoes, the Patagonian Andes, LLanquihue and Todos Los Santos Lakes.
DURATION: 7-9 hrs.
DEPARTURE: 07:30 a.m., from your hotel (or as arranged)

SEASON: Year round, weather permitting
ITINERARY: We depart from your hotel in Puerto Varas or Puerto Montt and travel along Lake Llanquihue, toward the skirts of Osorno Volcano (2661 m) and the entrance to Vicente Perez Rosales National Park. After 35 km more, at La Picada sector, we start the 5-6 hour climb up the Osorno Volcano on Paso de la Desolacion (Desolation Pass). Throughout our excursion, we identify numerous species of forest plants and wildlife.
At the viewpoint (1100 m) we take a break to rest, eat and take photos. Enjoy the panoramic views of Calbuco, Puntiagudo, Tronador, Yates volcanoes, the Patagonian Andes Mountain Range, and LLanquihue and Todos Los Santos Lakes. Then start down the canyon crossing areas of black ash brought down by glacial melt. Our descent ends at Petrohue beach, where we meet our transportation. Make a photo stop at Petrohue Waterfalls before returning to your hotel.
